Rusted Root to Perform Free Concert July 4 in Breckenridge, Colo.
Weekend includes sidewalk chalk art contest with cash prizes, parade, fireworks and more
BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. – June 28, 2011 – Pittsburgh, Pa.-based band Rusted Root will perform a free concert July 4, 2011 in Breckenridge, Colo. as part of a weekend-long celebration in honor of Independence Day. The non-ticketed show will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center, 150 W. Adams Ave. in downtown Breckenridge. The weekend will also feature a sidewalk chalk art competition with cash prizes, a trail running race, a parade led out by cyclists competing in the annual Firecracker 50 mountain bike race, kids’ activities and more. Rusted Root free concert: Formed in Pittsburgh by singer/guitarist Glabicki in the early ‘90s, Rusted Root serves up a worldly style that quickly charmed fans of roots music and world rock; the band has sold more than three million albums worldwide. July 4, 2:00 p.m. at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center
Independence Day parade: Start the day with a 10k trail run on Breckenridge’s spectacular in-town trail system. Later, the Firecracker 50 mountain bike race – part of the debut USA Cycling Pro Ultra Endurance Tour – kicks off the Main Street parade with cyclists leading out the floats, bag pipers, kids’ bike brigade and more. July 4, parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Main Street
Chalk Art Contest and Arts District Grand Celebration: In addition to the weekend-long July Art Festival, the Breckenridge Arts District opens their doors Saturday, July 2 for kids’ make-and-take art projects, music, a sidewalk chalk art competition with cash prizes and more. July 2, 10:00 a.m. at the corner of South Ridge Street and East Washington Avenue
Fireworks and free concert with the National Repertory Orchestra: After the kids’ water fight and downtown activities, close out the day with a patriotic concert by the National Repertory Orchestra. Lawn seating is free and reserved indoor tickets are available beginning June 30. Fireworks follow the concert. July 4, concert begins 8:30 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center
