NEW Epic Discovery at Breckenridge: A Mountain of Summer Fun is Ahead!
Late last summer, Breckenridge Ski Resort embarked on a new adventure with the debut of Epic Discovery, launching a new era of summer outdoor activities designed to immerse guests in Breck’s High Alpine environment. Summer 2018 marks the first full season of Epic Discovery at Breck and the perfect opportunity to get outside and experience the historic destination on a whole other level – more than 10,000 feet above sea-level to be exact!
 
Vail Resorts’ Epic Discovery, now offered at Breckenridge and Vail in Colorado, and Heavenly Resort in California, immerses guests in activities which provide big-time thrills, allowing them to challenge themselves physically, explore and better understand their natural surroundings, and ultimately create lifelong memories. This first-of-its-kind comprehensive on-mountain summer adventure features components such as zip lines, rock climbing walls, alpine coasters, wildlife trail exploration, and interactive, “learn-through-play” activities. Vail Resorts will utilize its “1% For The Forest” program as a means to contribute one percent of all summer lift ticket and activity revenue to The Nature Conservancy for forest restoration projects on national forest lands.
 
NEW Mountaintop Adventures at Epic Discovery’s Alpine Camp
Alpine Camp, located just steps from the top of the Colorado SuperChair, is the heart of Epic Discovery’s new activities and adventures at Breck, featuring the Alpineer Challenge Course, Expedition Zip Line Tour, Gold Summit Climbing Wall, Interpretive Hiking Loop and Observation Tower.
 
  • Alpineer Challenge Course: Test out your agility on one of 15 different challenges from lightly swinging logs, to shoe-to-rope balancing maneuvers; part of a truly unique adventure, built to blend in with its natural surroundings. The challenge course is the newest activity at Alpine Camp, opened in late Summer 2017.
  • Expedition Zip Line Tour: This two hour tour explores the Peak 7 Ore Bucket area of Breckenridge Ski Resort by air; navigating over a mile on eight zip lines between 10 towers and a 200-foot-long aerial bridge walk with stunning views of Summit County.
  • Gold Summit Climbing Wall: The 35-foot tall climbing wall offers 13 distinct routes to challenge all ability levels, from beginner and advanced climbers.
  • Interpretive Hiking Loop: Just under a mile, this gentle hiking loop takes guests on a journey of learning about Breck’s High Alpine environment, including animals, flora and fauna, mountain wetlands, impacts of the gold rush and additional history of the area. Story Stakes along the loop provide photos, fun facts and interesting written descriptions to encourage a connection to the area while learning in a unique way.
  • Observation Tower: Enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Breckenridge, the Continental Divide and the greater Rocky Mountains.

NEW Dining at Altitude
New for summer 2018, enjoy lunch at 11,000 feet with stunning views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains on the Vista Haus deck. Serving up classic barbeque dishes, the Vista Haus deck is the perfect spot to re-fuel in between Epic Discovery activities, or to simply enjoy the pairing of a scenic lift ride and an outdoor lunch.

Epic Discovery’s Peak 8 Basecamp
Offering activities for the whole family, with a focus on the little ones, Peak 8 Basecamp is the first stop to make on your Epic Discovery journey. Located off the top of the free BreckConnect Gondola and at the base of the Colorado SuperChair, Peak 8 Basecamp offers plenty of summer fun for the young and young at heart.
 
  • GoldRunner Alpine Coaster: Race down the mountain on 2,500 feet of elevated track as you enjoy a thrilling journey around and through the forest. Ride single or with a friend, managing your own speed through the hairpin twists and turns!
  • Alpine Slides: Choose between three exhilarating 2,600 feet-long courses at Peak 8 Base Camp. Control your speed through berms, turns and straightaways on the most legendary Alpine Slide in Colorado.
  • The Lil’ Climber Ropes Course: Swing, glide, balance and more. The kid-sized version of Breck’s Alpineer Challenge Course features ropes, bridges, logs and other kid-friendly obstacles and challenges for younger guests.
  • Little Flyer Zipline: The perfect introduction to ziplining for little flyers, specially designed to get you flying and ready for the big experience.
  • Silver Summit Climbing Wall: Explore the nooks and crannies of this 35ft tall climbing wall while taking in the views of the surrounding mountain ranges, all while safely harnessed.   • Guided Hikes: Explore Breck’s High Alpine environment with a scenic guided hike along the Horseshoe Bowl Trail. The tour includes a scenic chair ride up to Alpine Camp, water and granola bars, and hiking poles.
  • Mountain Biking: Enjoy Breck’s breathtaking mountain biking trails accessed by the Colorado SuperChair. The resort offers mountain bike lessons from beginner to intermediate levels and teaches terrain and tactics, safety, local history, high altitude and weather anomalies, and what it takes to protect the High Alpine environment.   • 4x4 Tours: Get off the beaten path! Hop on one of Breck’s open-air safari-style 4x4 vehicles with up to 7 people and cruise Peaks 7 and 8. This 90-minute ride will give you spectacular views from the top of the Ten Mile range.
